Hello and welcome to day 2 of the 12 cards of Christmas! Today I went in another direction from yesterdays’ vintage interpretation and put together something more non-traditonal in bright and cheery colors inspired by CQC#217.
To be perfectly honest, this was one of those cards that emerged from the pile of scraps from a few other projects and not something I sat down with a plan for. Sometimes those are my favorites!
The ink is of course from Colorbox (a mix of chalk and pigment), the stamps are WPlus9 (Merry & Bright) and the papers from an older October Afternoon line + Dear Lizzy for AC.
Something new-to-me on this card is placing the embellished panel right onto the card base without leaving a border. Totally wild, I know ๐ But I do think a card like this would be perfect for someone who likes thinks a little different – think art & music teachers, teenage relatives or even folks who are not religious.
Are your holiday cards more traditional or do you sometimes enjoy making them unexpected?
Still need to take that photo, but there is a big, bad goodie box waiting for one of you!ย If you are interested leave a comment below and/or on the previous posts in this series, link up a project, like myย FB pageย or anything else you can think of.ย
Iโll leave the linky up through Dec.24th โ since weโll all likely be working up to the last minute โ and will choose a winner after Christmas.
Cheers,
Sabrina
Trying to get my head around this card and it isn’t working. lol… (my head, that is!) I guess I am a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas. ๐
Currently, I am working on some altered cards that I am turning into Christmas cards…..they came with a cute primitive style drawing of a cat wearing a santa hat on the front and a generic winter festive day greeting inside. I am adding sequins etc to give the cat a far more interesting coat and a “Joy to the World” banner on the front. Inside I have stamped “Jesus is the Reason for the Season” so they are actually Christ-mas cards. ๐
I am still plotting some unique ways to gain more entries because I am extremely interested in that big bad box of goodies. ๐ ๐ ๐
