Watercolor Hello

Hello, hello! One last card to share with you before I pack up the rest of my craft room and get down to the dirty work of deep cleaning and moving heavy boxes. This one is for the current Moxie Fab World challenge: Wonderful Words Challenge using word dies. This word die from Papertrey Ink is one of the few I own and since all the others are holiday related, hello it is!

My daughter and I were checking out some watercolor technique videos on YouTube the other weekend (Art Food Kitty had some great, informative ones that get to the point without all the extra chit chat you sometimes find on YouTube channels) and we sat down to create with our new found knowledge. Can’t believe I *almost* considered getting rid of this pretty butterfly stamp from Stampendous, but honestly, I’ve never found one I like better. And this one is 10 years old.

For the word die business, I debossed “hello” into the background to create an outline to paint around. Then wet with water and painted on the color with Colorbox Spritzers spray inks used in that tray above. The top “hello” was cut from black cardstock, given a coating of glossy accents and then adhered slightly offset so it would appear to be 3-D.

Really, I love how this turned out! It just makes me so happy 🙂

See you in a couple of weeks!

The Key to Happiness

Hello! Today is day 2 of our team’s challenge on the Pink by Design blog – use motivational or inspirational quotes in your projects. Whether you’re documenting your goals for the new year or simply sending some encouragement via a card – we want you to link up for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the PBD store.

Today we are also sharing techniques for bow tying. Liz has a great one for creating a flat ribbon bow and I am sharing how to make a double bow using the 3 Girl Jam bowmaker. Check out the video below.

I am also linking up to the following challenges:
Play Date Cafe – PDCC163
The Deconstructed Sketch – Sketch #83

Have a great day!

Peace

Good morning and happy Monday! I have the feeling this is going to be a great week! Things are starting to get back to normal around here, baby has settled into a semi-predictable routine and thanks to my new Moby wrap, I have my hands back. Seriously, how did women with more than one child get anything done before these were invented?! I love wearing my baby and being productive!!

Eli is 7 weeks old now and growing like a weed. He’s already 13 pounds, loves to smile and have “coo”-versations whenever he catches someones eye. He loves taking a warm bath. And bless his little gooey heart – he is such a good baby. So content most all the time.

The big kids are so in love with him too. Little Rora is having a hard time though. She loves her baby bro but is struggling with the mommy time she is missing out on. It’s getting easier every day but she has been soo mad at me – argumentiative, even more stubborn and acting out. I suppose that’s normal but it just breaks my heart to see her sad and somewhat lost.

So we have been doing lots of crafts together after she gets out of preschool. Cause it makes us both happy to make pretty things.

This is a card I created for the NEW and IMPROVED challenge over at the Pink by Design blog. Each week we have a new theme with 3 days of inspiration projects created by the mini teams and this week the theme is Your Favorite Patterns.

I love a lot of patterns – polka dots, chevron, floral, stripes – but decided to go with sweet and classic gingham this time. PBD has a Gingham Background stamp which is actually being retired. 😦

It’s inspired by a Two Peas sketch and uses the Alphabet stickers challenge from Moxie Fab world, plus it uses one of my favorite Pink by Design stamp sets – My Type.

So do you feel like playing along with your favorite pattern this week? You have until 11/19 to link up for the chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the PBD store! Hooray!! You can use PBD stamps or any that you have.

Add to the linky below or on the PBD blog.

Tuesday Trigger: Sunshine Fragments

Hello. Just popping in briefly today to post a card I created for the current Moxie Fab Trigger. Had to sit down and create as soon as I laid eyes on the inspiration piece 🙂

Used PTI’s currently released Sunshine set (not sure of the name off hand) and the same colors from the photo but in different increments. Oh and lots of colors of Colorbox’s Premium Dye Inks too!

Here is the inspiration piece. Have a great weekend!!

Tuesday Trigger: Watercolor Butterflies

Hello and happy Monday! It’s been awhile since I’ve had a chance to play along with the Moxie Fab trigger but this week’s inspiration was just too pretty to resist (pun intended!)

I really love using the watercolor resist technique but instead of dye inks, this time I experiemented with Smooch Spritz and wow! The color is much more vibrant and blended together much more naturally without having to use a ton of water. Plus you get the extra shimmer particles from the Smooch and the little paint splatters from the spray bottle.

Loving how this turned out and was able to put the butterfly stamp collection to use! Click here to play along, the inspiration image is below.

Have a wonderful week!

We’ve Got Your Number

Have you had a chance to drop by Paper Issues lately? Right now (and in fact starting last Sunday) through next Sunday the 13th, we are linking up paper projects that have anything and everything to do with numbers, lists or any other way you can interpret it.

I had several ideas for this challenge but they just weren’t working out right, soooo I turned to one of my favorite distractions – Sudoku. Random numbers seemed like a  perfect match with Crate’s Random line.

By the Numbers is also the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World this week so I will be linking up there as well. Is that quilt not stunning?! I tried to create a similar looking DIY impression plate with chipboard letters but alas, all the numbers were in reverse! I’m not giving up the idea, but that will have to be a project for another day.

Be sure to stop by the Paper Issues shop as well – Cassie has all kinds of great deals of Twinery twine, AC Chap goodies, and gorgeous V-day themed embellies. I’m certain there is at least one thing you can’t live without 🙂

Tuesday Trigger – A Warm Hello

Like most things, I am the last to discover Moxie Fab World and the fantastic challenges and inspiration they host there. But I did make it in time to take part in this week’s Tuesday Trigger –  Luminous Layers.

I see a dress sewn from scraps in the pretty, bohemian colors of fall. And so I made a card with layers punched from scraps in pretty fall colors and an array of patterns.

The buttery yellow cardstock has me feeling anxious for the weather to cool down and ready to unpack the fall clothing so I chose a warm sentiment to go along. And where would we be without a little glitter on top? 🙂 The result makes me smile.

This challenge is open until Sunday the 14th if you’d like to play along too, just click here to link up.
