Watercolor Hello

Hello, hello! One last card to share with you before I pack up the rest of my craft room and get down to the dirty work of deep cleaning and moving heavy boxes. This one is for the current Moxie Fab World challenge: Wonderful Words Challenge using word dies. This word die from Papertrey Ink is one of the few I own and since all the others are holiday related, hello it is!

My daughter and I were checking out some watercolor technique videos on YouTube the other weekend (Art Food Kitty had some great, informative ones that get to the point without all the extra chit chat you sometimes find on YouTube channels) and we sat down to create with our new found knowledge. Can’t believe I *almost* considered getting rid of this pretty butterfly stamp from Stampendous, but honestly, I’ve never found one I like better. And this one is 10 years old.

For the word die business, I debossed “hello” into the background to create an outline to paint around. Then wet with water and painted on the color with Colorbox Spritzers spray inks used in that tray above. The top “hello” was cut from black cardstock, given a coating of glossy accents and then adhered slightly offset so it would appear to be 3-D.

Really, I love how this turned out! It just makes me so happy 🙂

See you in a couple of weeks!

Hello? Anybody still here? It’s been forever since I’ve stopped in or done anything social media related. Shame on me! But I won’t pretend it hasn’t been a relief – blogging, facebooking, instagraming, etc. I barely have time for creating these days and I certainly don’t want to spend those few spare moments online, kwim?

But I am here today to share the challenge Liz and I prepared for this week on the Pink by Design blog – Geometric. It’s been a big trend for a while now but really the basic shapes never go out of style 🙂 Whether you like circles, triangles, hexagons or squares, link up for a chance at $10 to spend in the PBD store.

I had fun playing with tangrams for this card and used the Lucky half pint stamp set.

And this circle one using the Spectacular set. I went a little inky and embossed the glasses in a masked circle then shaded with the Sweet Sixteen Colorbox Pigment Ink Queue. The glasses die cut was embellished with some Smooch accent ink. I might even be warming up to the color purple 🙂

And finally a birthday mini book with the Love With You Is half pint stamp set. I layered lots of scrap paper squares to get a fun mix of prints on the cover piece and then repeated stamped the sentiments from this set on the larger cover paper for a subtle design. Inside are patterned paper sheets, tabbed pages and journaling paper for adding notes.
You can find the post to link up your take on the Geometric trend here.

Paper Issues is celebrating owner and paper slinger extraordinaire Cassie’s birthday all this week! Check us out on Facebook – she is giving away over 25 prizes! Woot!! Also stop by the PI blog for the new theme sponsored by Elle’s Studio.

Clearsnap just announced their mid season releases in the last weeks – new colors of Smooch Accent Ink as well as the new pigment ink colors in Cat’s Eye form. Lots of good stuff! Check them all out here.

My baby bunny is now 7 months old. He is working so hard on getting mobile but every time he tries to crawl he goes backwards. It’s pretty cute but he gets so frustrated! Starting to pull himself up and working on the 2 front teeth as well. Add in the separation anxiety phase and we have a baby who does not want to nap or sleep at night. That leaves one tired mama!

The big kids are getting excited for summer and I am too! See you again in a few weeks maybe 🙂

Thankful For You Friend

My boys in camo.

I am going to have to start posting our photos and notes here to come back and reference as it seems my mommy brain is letting our memories slip through the cracks! And I never get around to posting photos to Facebook.

Tyler is so proud and loves being able to impart all of his man knowledge onto the boys. Love them ❤

Today I have another card to share for the Pink by Design challenge theme. More gingham! But you can link up with any pattern that is your favorite. Add your card to the linky for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the PBD store!

I used the Everyday Banners stamp set (quickly becoming a favorite) along with the Gingham Background to create this thankful card. The vellum is stamped with Colorbox Chalk Ink in Chestnut Roan and heat set to dry. The color combo came from a Fiestaware display at Younkers – love those colorful dishes!

Am also linking up to these challenges:
Simon Says Stamp – Thanksgiving/thank you.

 Have a great day!

Stamp On It! Blog Hop

Good morning and hello November! We are hopping today and all week with Paper Issues to celebrate the newest theme – stamping – so generously sponsored by Hero Arts!! If you didn’t arrive here from Diana’s blog, check out the list below to make sure you don’t miss a single, inspiring stop on the hop.

I worked with the Happy Holidays Snowman stamp from the Hero Arts holiday release. Isn’t he cute – just love the banner! To give the image a sort of rustic look, I stamped onto patterned paper, colored with Sharpies and then embossed several times with thick embossing powder. Bend the paper to get the cracks and then highlight them with some distressing inks.

Had to add some glitter too – this is some of the new Sparkles! chunky glitter by Stephanie Barnard for Colorbox.

And of course it wouldn’t be a hop without a giveaway, right?

Two lucky stampers will win one of these sets. To be eligible for the prize, we ask that you do the following:

1. Like Hero Arts on FB http://www.facebook.com/hero.arts
2. Like Paper Issues on FB http://www.facebook.com/PaperIssues
3. Leave a comment that you did both
4. Link up a project for a Bonus entry
And if all the projects leave you in the mood for a little shopping, check out the Paper Shop and use my code STAMP for an additional 20% off your order! Hooray!

Happy Day

Aww! Today I have the first page for baby A’s scrapbook album – the first ultrasound! It feels like forever since I’ve scrapped a layout and was a little unsure of even where to start but this page surprisingly came together in about an hour.

Used the March project kit from The Paper Bakery, which is full of MME Follow Your Heart and Miss Caroline goodness plus their current sketch for a jump start. Am also playing along with the current My Mind’s Eye challenge to use hexagons, a favorite trend!

I just measured and hand cut a few hexies, plus cut some from patterned paper and used the chipboard ones as well.

For the border there on the right, I tried to stamp with the chipboard border and it kinda worked, even though it doesn’t have the give that rubber/poly stamps do to get that smooth coverage. Still a fun washed out effect though! Loving the touch of red in this kit!

Have the most lovely weekend! ♥

October Mini Album

Just this past weekend I attended my very first crop. It was super fun and even though I didn’t get as much done as one would think in 6 hours – I absolutely loved it!! Can’t believe I waited this long to actually attend one.

So I worked the whole time on the mini book I started for the month of October and Halloween. Somehow I filled all 30+ pages and it ended up twice as fat as expected. None of the pages will stay open by themselves. You can see the “before” pages here.

And here is a look as a few of my fav pages. Okay more than a few, I am really excited about how this mini turned out!

Almost everything I used for this project is sold out already at 2Peas, but they are having a HUGE pre-tent sale right now if you are interested! Enjoy your Wednesday!
