Watercolor Hello

Hello, hello! One last card to share with you before I pack up the rest of my craft room and get down to the dirty work of deep cleaning and moving heavy boxes. This one is for the current Moxie Fab World challenge: Wonderful Words Challenge using word dies. This word die from Papertrey Ink is one of the few I own and since all the others are holiday related, hello it is!

My daughter and I were checking out some watercolor technique videos on YouTube the other weekend (Art Food Kitty had some great, informative ones that get to the point without all the extra chit chat you sometimes find on YouTube channels) and we sat down to create with our new found knowledge. Can’t believe I *almost* considered getting rid of this pretty butterfly stamp from Stampendous, but honestly, I’ve never found one I like better. And this one is 10 years old.

For the word die business, I debossed “hello” into the background to create an outline to paint around. Then wet with water and painted on the color with Colorbox Spritzers spray inks used in that tray above. The top “hello” was cut from black cardstock, given a coating of glossy accents and then adhered slightly offset so it would appear to be 3-D.

Really, I love how this turned out! It just makes me so happy 🙂

See you in a couple of weeks!

Gallery Idol 2014 Audition

Hello there! Hoping you all had a lovely Mother’s Day. It was rainy here for much of the day so we hung out in our jammies and were fairly lazy. I snuck into my craft room for a bit while dad kept the kids occupied (or should I say the TV kept the kids occupied 😉 ) and put together a card for the Gallery Idol challenge at Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking mag.

The first round of auditions called for a project using decorative tape. Washi tape from Freckled Fawn is what I used here. My tape stash hasn’t seen a whole lot of play in recent months and I almost forgot how simple it makes it to mix and match patterns and colors without a lot of effort. Plus stripes never go out of style!

I die-cut some wonky stars into the cardstock panel and filled the negative area with glitter paper. Cause we can all use a little more sparkle in our days – right?! Also added some other random bits that were laying around my desk.

Cross your fingers for me!

Supplies:
Washi Tape – Freckled Fawn (various)
Stamps – Waltzingmouse Stamps (You’re A Doll)
Ink – Colorbox Chalk Ink (Blackbird)
Dies – Papertrey Ink (wonky stars), Memory Box (tiny star), Waltzingmouse Stamps (flowers, snowflake)
Stickers – Dear Lizzy
Brad – Pink Fresh Studio

Mustard and Florals

Wow, two posts in a week?! Told you I was feeling inspired lately. And like yesterday, this thank you card was also inspired by a piece of of pretty fabric – Nicey Jane Picnic Bouquet by Heather Bailey – that is part of a quilt in our home.

That mustard/gold color is one that people either seem to love or hate and you can definitely count me into the LOVE category. It’s one of those shades that you might find on a “what does the color of my baby’s poo mean” charts and while a bit putrid, I can’t help but feel a bit of affection for these outcast colors. After all, who else is going to love them?

Supplies:
Colorbox Chalk Ink – Fawn, Mint, Plumeria, Chambray, Butter, Blackbird, Popcorn, Aquamarine, Sour Apple
Stamps — WPlus9 (Fresh Cut Florals) + Coordinating Dies
Impression Plate –  Papertrey Ink (Stripes)
Patterned Paper — Elle’s Studio (You & Me)
Cardstock — Bazzill Card Shoppe
Washi Tape — Freckled Fawn
Pearls — Doodlebug Designs

An Old Fashioned Hello

Back today with another card to share for the Pink by Design challenge, Sparkle and Shine. Today’s card using diy-ed glitter tape. So super easy to make! I have a video below that shows this technique and 2 more also! Hooray for glitter!

I pulled out the Call Me stamp set to play with again (mostly because I love it but partly because all the other news sets I haven’t played with yet are buried. Man I need to clean off my desk. But this is a fun set nonetheless 🙂 “An old fashioned hello” is the sentiment. Aren’t all stamped and mailed cards old-fashioned really?

Here’s the video. And that’s all for me today! Enjoy!

Call Me, Maybe

Hello there and hope your week is starting off right! Me and Liz are up on the Pink by Design blog this week with a new theme – Have A Heart? We know you’re getting started on your valentine’s cards and all we are asking with this challenge is to include a heart on your project.

Enter your heart projects for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Pink by Design store – maybe you could pick up the cute “Call Me” stamp set that I used on this card. We’d love to see your PBD but it is not required.
